I just loved everything about this wedding. Deb and Jerry are such a wonderful couple - plus, they were high school sweethearts, which I just think is the cutest! They were married at the Potawatomi Inn - a super-cool, rustic lodge right across the Indiana border.
I don't think I've ever done this before, but I am going to blog this whole wedding in black and white. I always deliver a good mix of color, black-and-white, and creatively toned images - but this series I've chosen to feature here seemed particularly suited for black and white. For isolating emotion and emphasizing a photojournalistic feel, I truly feel that nothing beats a strong black and white image. But don't worry Deb and Jerry - I also captured lots of vibrant color photos as well ;-)
Deb is just stunning - if Michele Pfieffer and Mila Jovovitch had a love child, she *might* be this lovely

Deb is a really talented ceramic artist - she made over 200 favors for the guests, custom beer mugs for all the wedding party, and this darling dish for the ring bearer

the girls picked all the flowers themselves at a local dahlia farm - pretty cool!

these next two are tommy's shots (is he getting good or what)

my hunny, lookin' fly

i seriously *heart* this next one - such a fun moment!

their ballroom looked really incredible, filled with glowing paper lanterns

tommy got this sweet picture of the band

thanks deb and jerry for a great day!

ashleigh and christopher are such a cool and laid-back couple. i've been looking forward to their wedding all year! the big day came and went last weekend at the Henry Ford Museum, and went off without a hitch ;-)
a few quick vendor shouts:
hair: luigi @ luigi bruni
makeup: Amani Mokdad
flowers: Sebesta Design
band: Chateau
I started off the day with Ashleigh at the Ritz, for all the "getting ready" action
here's luigi working his magic:
HOTT HOTT shoes - seriously, to die for.

love these next two that Tommy captured - really nice behind-the-scenes moments as ashleigh prepared to come down the aisle

the rings were very unique - Chris picked this out because it matches ashleigh's eyes ;-)

I see a LOT of amazing shoes in my line of work - these are definitely in the top five!!

this flower girl was just the coolest

first look

loved the bouquet and boutonniere - too often I see these giant flower
boutonniere's that just don't stay nice - by the time we're ready for
pictures, they're practically destroyed! But this looked sharp all day
- so, note to future grooms - get a boutonniere that won't wilt or fall apart!!

a few pictures around the garden before their outdoor ceremony at 6PM

so many amazing spots to shoot at the museum - and wouldn't you know it, some of my favorite pictures are made against the wall outside the bathrooms - ha!

love these next two that Tommy captured - really nice behind-the-scenes moments as ashleigh prepared to come down the aisle

and AMAZINGLY AWESOME cake topper (ashleigh, leave a comment and let people know where you got this - I forget!)

Corrinne did a sweet job with the centerpieces -

these next two are my favorites...

first dance

Tommy and I couldn't resist poppin' in the museum's photo booth on our way out - I heart photo booths!

ashleigh + christopher - thanks for trusting us to photograph your day - we had a great time with you guys. hope you had a fun drive back across the country!

I can't believe my favorite little peanut has started kindergarten! I was lured out of bed last week at an ungodly hour to help see him off - the promise of chocolate chip pancakes may have also played a role in getting me over there ;-)
But so glad I made it! here's a few snaps I took:
Owen practicing his lightsaber moves
nina being....nina.....

I'll be honest - I was a little bit nervous for this wedding. this was one of the biggest weddings I've ever photographed (in terms of size of wedding party and number of guests), so I knew there was going to be a LOT going on! Plus, the weather was not looking good....
BUT the wedding gods smiled upon me and it was a great day. Sam and Agatha's friends and family were the nicest group I could have hoped to work with, all of their vendors were spot-on, and we wound up with a gorgeous day!
Here's some of my favorites:
Getting ready bright and early at Agatha's house

Agatha was just breathtaking - amazing YSA Makino gown from Alessandra Bride and Maria Elena headpiece from Roma Sposa

BIG thanks to the delightful Tamara from Silver Thumb, who pitched in to shoot the guys in the morning - here's a couple of hers I really like

and, onto the ceremony at Holy Family, right downtown by Greektown

en route downtown with the wedding party

my biggest wedding party to date - 12 attendants each!

super-cute flower girl

a quick jaunt to belle isle

The reception was held at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township - a beautiful, newly renovated facility. Some reception details (floral arrangements by Venetian Flowers)

another view of that cake! Agatha's dad owns Vito's Bakery, so an impressive cake was all but guaranteed - and don't even get me started on the sweet table - unbelievable!!

one of my fave wedding bands, Intrigue, tore it UP! It's always a treat to see these guys preform - who else can go from Italian Opera to Lady Gaga so seamlessly!?

one of my favorite parts of every wedding I shoot is towards the end of the reception - the cake is cut, the "official" dances are done, and everyone is GETTING DOWN! This is such a fun time for me as a photographer - this late in the day, most everyone is used to me and camera, so I can really get out there, mix with the crowd, and capture fun candid moments like these

this little guy was wiped out (i know just how he felt!)

Sam and Agatha - enjoy this little peek at your wedding photos! Thanks to you and your families for being so wonderful to work with - I hope you had FUN and are enjoying Hawaii!

oh my goodness. I am still recovering from this amazing wedding! 17 hours of shooting, 500+ guests...and a wedding cake you have to see to believe. I've only just begun looking through the nearly 4000 images captured, but here's just a few that jumped out at me - i'll post a much bigger preview soon!

here's that cake - I had to hop into a frame just so you could really appreciate the scale ;-)

Sam and Agatha - you guys are probably on a plane to Hawaii right about now. Hope you have a wonderful and restful time. Stay tuned for *many* more!

This was such a fun wedding to shoot - not just because tim and andrea are a rad couple (which they are!) but also because they are friends of tommy and mine. The whole story of Andrea and Tim is a little serendipitous - they met as neighbors. I actually got to know Andrea right around the time she moved in next door to Tim, and it was also right around the time I was starting my business. So, it's pretty cool to see how far we've both come ;-)
Anyhow - great story aside, this was an awesome wedding - it was truly a community effort. Andrea and Tim have an incredible group of (multitalented!) friends, who all came together to make this day happen.
on with the photos! the ceremony, appropriately enough, was held in the backyard of the house where they met as neighbors.

love this series of Andrea peeking out the door just before coming out with her dad...

a friend performed a lovely version of 'won't you be my neighbor?'

dancing under the stars...perfect Ann Arbor night...

And some scenes from their afterparty @ the elks lodge (by which point, admittedly, I was no longer in top form ;-0 )

beautiful photography! I love how you take the risks in a photo with a beautiful blur. I love to play with blur in my photography too. Depth of field, motion, low ambient light. It really adds so much emotion of the moment.

i'm starting to get excited!! thought I would share the scoop on my dress with all my loyal blog readers ;-)
I am LOVING dolly couture - her dresses are exactly what I had in mind - so darling, and delightfully affordable as well!
she has an entire line of ready-to-wear, and also takes on custom projects. I haven't decided on an exact design yet - but I am really digging this one, 'the beverlywood':

I could totally rock this out with a cute twigs and honey piece. wooot! now we just need to finalize a date (this is getting tough, as 2010 continues to book up!), finalize our venue (close!), hire a photographer (this will be the hardest - how will I ever choose!?)...
...sigh...planning a wedding is work, people!
