i've said it before, but one of my absolute favorite things about my job is getting to meet the new babies of couples whose weddings I photographed. I shot greg and kelly's wedding over two years ago, and I am just thrilled for them as they welcome a new baby into their lives!

Meet Cass!

this little guy is only a couple of weeks old....so sweet....

and mom and dad are just as cute as the day they got married ;-P

congrats guys! so lovely to see you both.

I know I've got a few other brides expecting - (ahem, ahem, Melissa and Sara, I better be hearing from you ladies soon!!)...

ryan + megan | engaged!

here's some favorites from a recent e-shoot with ryan and megan - they are an adorable couple - plus, megan is a dead ringer for january jones, and I love me some mad men!! so excited to shoot their wedding this may!

we actually did this shoot on a really yucky, rainy day - but they were only in michigan for the weekend so we really didn't want to reschedule. It just goes to show that you can make great images in ANY weather!

I'll start with one of my favorites (and, coincidentally, one of the last images we snapped!). I've always loved this wall - and it is just SICK right now covered in gorgeous fall colors

these next two are what I jokingly call ''newspaper announcement photos". In wedding photography nowadays, there's so much emphasis on being creative and different...which is fantastic, but I think sometimes we forget to just take nice, 'normal' portraits, too. I truly believe that the ability to compose and capture beautiful, timeless, well-lit portraits is crucial for any photographer. While I typically chose to feature my less traditional imagery, I always try and remember to grab a few like this at every session....

mike + katy | married!

I feel like I've been excited for this wedding forever - I'm almost sad it's over ;-( Katy and Mike are such a great couple, and they really went out of their way to make Tommy and I feel like friends and guests at their celebration.

I'm so happy to share some of my favorite images from their day with all the people who have probably been stalking the blog waiting for them (you know who you are, haha!)

Katy's dress was stunning - loved the vintage detailing!

Todd (of Todd's Room fame) did Katy's makeup and she was literally flawless (katy's hair by Figo)

Katy had such a pretty group of bridesmaids! (although, i may be a little biased - one of them is a past bride of mine - can you spot her?!). bridesmaids hair and makeup by brides on location.

fun times on the party bus en route back to the eagle crest marriott, where the reception was held. It was my first time shooting there - absolutely beautiful venue!

i just loved all the details at this reception. Chiavari chairs are always beautiful, but the woven ribbons really took them to another level. Any guesses how long it took do do all these? And how cute is their Zingerman's cake!

Katy worked with event planner Misty Trompeter and florist Hollye Mackler to create these gorgeous, modern tablescapes

each table was named after a DC metrorail station

This crowd knew how to party!

of course, it helps to have an awesome DJ like Mary Ann Ross to keep things jumping....

katy and mike - what a fantastic day! we had a blast spending it with you, your friends and family. Also BIG thanks to Misty from Bells and Bliss who coordinated this wedding and made sure it went off without a hitch ;-)

scott + adrienne | married!

Scott and Adrienne were married a couple of weeks ago at the Michigan League in Ann Arbor. Their wedding rocked!

LOVED her shoes - and the gorgeous bouquet (by French's)

the ceremony had initially been planned for outdoors, but it was a little chilly out so we moved inside - luckily, the league has some lovely rooms for an indoor ceremony

after the ceremony we did some photos outdoors around the League/State Street - let me tell you, it was CHILLY! Adrienne and Scott were such troopers, and i'm so glad they were up for it because we got some AWESOME images

and than back inside to join their guests! cake by jefferson market and cakery

here's adrienne listening to her dad's speech, which was very sweet ;-)

there were a TON of cute kiddos running around at this reception....

These two were married last month (told you I was behind on my blogging!). It was a great day - perfect weather!

following the outdoor wedding, they held a short Persian ceremony indoors. Sheila's mom created this amazing spread full of symbolic items

and than we dipped outside for some more photos before they joined their reception

their reception was decorated beautifully - loved these autumnal florals

props to emerald city for the the room lighting and hanging candles - they really created a beautiful ambiance!

Mary Ann kept everyone rockin' with a great mix of Persian and Western music

minae + hugh | engaged!

some favorites from a fun shoot in ann arbor with Minae and Hugh, who are getting married next month.

we started off on U of M's campus

a quick stop at the stadium

and than they changed into their Hanbok (traditional korean outfits) which were so beautiful!

minae's only real request for this shoot was a photo with a bright blue sky - I think we nailed it!

introducing ebony peoples!

I'm so excited to introduce my blog readers to Ebony Peoples - Ebony is new to the Michigan scene, after working in event planning down South. I first met her a few weeks ago when she contacted me about getting some headshots done for her new website (launching soon!). She is a total doll and I love her enthusiasm for all things event planning! I know she is going to be a tremendous success ;-)

one of my all-time favorite wedding blogs, offbeat bride, just did the nicest little feature on tim and andrea's wedding - YAY!

If you haven't discovered this gem of a blog yet - go check it out NOW! Such a great reality check for the sometimes insane world of wedding planning.
